Art on a Mission

Performing Arts Workshop is a Bay Area, BIPOC-led nonprofit organization established in 1965 to equalize access to arts and arts education and help young people develop critical thinking, creative expression, socio-emotional learning, media literacy, and essential life skills.

Bay Area
Youth Art Programs

Performing Arts Workshop works with over 2,000 students in Title I schools, transitional housing facilities, juvenile halls, and afterschool programs via our partnership model that places one to two Teaching Artists (for sites that are understaffed) per classroom to engage youth through music, dance, writing, theater, spoken word poetry, mixed media, and visual/media arts.

Geneva Powerhouse
Youth Art Programs

Geneva Powerhouse youth art programs engage students through diverse arts led by Teaching Artists. From dance to ancestral healing, we affirm identities in classes like 'Bodies and Binaries'. Students shape our LGBTQIA+ and youth of color hub. We prioritize immigrant youth, fostering growth through play-based learning.
