Through arts education utilizing healing-informed learning, students process and express emotion in a safe environment responsive to individual and generation-defining challenges.

Geneva Powerhouse youth art programs are taught by Teaching Artists who guide students through art forms such as dance, spoken word, and the practice of ancestral healing knowledge while affirming gender, community, and culture. Students also may join the Geneva Powerhouse Youth Advisory Council, a paid cohort that works with our artists to design the Geneva Powerhouse space and programming to create a youth-led community hub for LGBTQIA and youth of color.

Recognizing the challenges immigrant youth and families face in navigating new systems of racism that differ from those in other countries, we focus our programming on affirming personal and cultural identity through play-based learning. Our spring residencies culminate in a showcase for the local community at the Geneva Powerhouse, our performance/gallery space in District 11.
