We believe that access to sustained, sequential instruction in an art form should be part of every young person’s education and development.

Performing Arts Workshop works with over 2,000 students in Title I schools, transitional housing facilities, juvenile halls, and afterschool programs via our partnership model that places one to two Teaching Artists (for sites that are understaffed) per classroom to engage youth through music, dance, writing, theater, spoken word poetry, mixed media, and visual/media arts. Recognizing the profound impact of COVID-19 learning delays and changing educational landscape on students, we focus our arts programming towards re-fostering academic and community bonds through play-based learning, providing support for the isolation and trauma students grapple with as our world adjusts to a rapidly changing future.

Our residencies culminate in a showcase at the Geneva Powerhouse, our performance space in District 11. Site partners can also opt for a showcase with their local community.
