One-Day Projects

Student Showcase

Day of Event Assistance: Showcase Assistant

We need help the day of with set-up, registration, ushering, and clean-up/event tear down. Please specify on the “Workshop Intern & Volunteer Interest Form” which of the following tasks you would like to assist with:

  • Donation pick-up
  • Set-up
  • Registration
  • Activity Leading
  • Ushering/greeting
  • Event clean-up/tear down

Sponsor Coordination: Corporate & In-Kind Liaison

We need help making business and community connections and getting in-kind donations. This work requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, as most donors require written requests as well as a phone call and in-person follow up. Volunteers needed for a minimum of three months prior to the May Student Showcase (beginning in February). If interested, please complete the interest form here.


Student Coordination: Student Coordinator

We need one organized and friendly volunteer to follow up with our students and their families to ensure permission slips are completed and returned. Volunteer will also coordinate phone calls and manage student check-in and sign out at the event! Volunteer needed for a minimum of three-four weeks prior to the May showcase as well as the day of. Development (September & April)

Fall & Spring Fundraising Campaign: Fundraising Campaign Supporter

Love the arts? Want to volunteer with friends, your fraternity/sorority, club or group? Help raise money and spread the word about arts education at one of our bi-annual mailing parties! Come by yourself, with a friend, or bring a whole group to help fold, stamp, seal, and address letters. We promise to make it fun! Please Note: Attention to visual detail is important to ensure the high quality of all fundraising materials sent to Workshop donors. Fall campaign mailing begins in September, spring in April. Classroom Photography: Classroom Photographer

Visit a class and photograph our students in action! Your photos will be used on our website, social media networks, promotional and fundraising collateral, and presentations. Those with photography experience and access to professional equipment preferred though not necessary. You must have your own transportation to and from program sites. Class, Performance, and Interview Transcribing: Transcriber

Looking for individuals with strong writing skills who love the arts! Watch our artists teach, listen to interviews, and enjoy performances while transcribing valuable stories and quotes. This material will be used on our website, social media networks, promotional and fundraising collateral, and presentations. If interested, please complete the interest form here.


Community Engagement & Outreach: Community Liaison

If you love your school or community and are dedicated to promoting arts education, this is the role for you! Observe our amazing teaching artists and visit our administrative office to learn more about what the Workshop does! Take initiative to present at teacher/staff seminars, community meetings, parent teacher conferences, and more to help us reach families in local neighborhoods. Classroom Videography: Classroom Videographer

Visit a class and capture the creative process! Your footage will be used on grant applications, our website, social media networks, promotional and fundraising collateral, and presentations. Those with filming experience and access to professional equipment preferred though not required. You must have your own transportation to and from program sites. Social Media Development: Social Media Developer

Create social media content and help develop community awareness around arts education! Your phrases, stories, images and/or videos will be used on our website, social media networks, promotional and fundraising collateral, and presentations. Grant Research and Development: Grant Writer and Researcher

Fascinated with fundraising and institutional giving? Love words and have a passion for writing? Work to expand our institutional giving base by identifying new potential donors and writing parts of organizational grants. If interested, please complete the interest form here.


Donor Research, Documentation & Analysis: Donor Data Assistant

Interested in fundraising and donor relations? Help track donor gifts and involvement! Research donor participation, log and file gifts, and conduct valuable donor analysis to help support Performing Arts Workshop. If interested, please complete the interest form here.

Administrative

E-Server Organizing: Organizational Designer

Have a passion for the arts and a knack for organization? Help re-vamp our internal e-filing system and increase administrative efficiency. We need someone to first assess, then propose, and finally re-arrange files on our server in a more intuitive manner, allowing staff to quickly access any and all documents. Workshop History Archiving: Archive Developer

Love history and the arts? Interested in learning more about what Performing Arts Workshop has done for the SF community in 50 years? Sort, organize and archive important documents, videos, and photos, illustrating our accomplishments and preserving Workshop history. If interested, please complete the interest form here.


Financial Research & Analysis: Financial Analyst

Interested in finance? Have a knack for research? We are looking for someone to research and analyze our financial data and how it compares to similar types of organizations in the Bay Area and around the United States. This project also includes the opportunity to develop a presentation on your findings and present to the finance committee and Workshop board. If interested, please complete the interest form here.


Program Database Support: Program Data Assistant

Proficient in excel and interested in measuring social impact? Want professional experience while working with a fun arts organization? We seek detail oriented volunteers for data entry and analysis of all our program sites. If interested, please complete the interest form here!

Are you a proud parent with a child in a Workshop class? Want to get more involved with your child’s arts education? We need parent support! Take on a leadership role and help follow up on permission slips for student showcases, bring dishes to performances, encourage parent involvement, and more!
