Poetry for the People
Posted by Lindsey Boldtl
Hello PAW Poets and friends of Poets,
This is Lindsey writing say hello, "hello!" and to invite you to a poetry event this coming Sunday. Since October some friends of mine have been hosting an open poetry reading at Oscar Grant Plaza (Frank Ogawa Plaza) in downtown Oakland. People are invited to read/perform their own work or writing by other poets. The idea is to help "occupy" the plaza as poets and citizens, to meet other poets and share our work. Much of the work that people choose to read reflects or resonates with the particular political and social conditions that the Occupy movement hopes to address, but it certainly does not have to. Poetry is liberating enough all by itself. All poets, poetry and languages welcome.
Please see the information below for details and I hope you can come by! Tell your friends!
